Authorities are investigating after skeletal remains were found Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area on Peoria's far southwest side.
The Peoria County sheriff's office says they were found in the 1500 block of South Crest Drive. That's near South Kickapoo Creek Road, just east of Interstate 474.
Police say the remains were turned over to the coroner's office for examination and identification. The investigation is ongoing.
