Elderly Bartonville man dies after being struck by a vehicle

An ambulance with its lights on. The text "WCBU Police and Fire" is laid on top of that photo.

A 90-year-old Bartonville man died Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle near Bartonville Grade School.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Carlos Martinez suffered multiple blunt force injuries and died at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

The Bartonville Police Department says officers responded to the 300 block of Keller Street, behind the school, in response to a pedestrian being struck by a car.

Martinez was taken to the hospital and arrived unconscious, not breathing and with no pulse. Despite resuscitative efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly before 2:30 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation by Bartonville police and the Illinois State Police.
