Bradley's AJ Smith (21) tries to hold off a Valparaiso defender as he calls for a pass from Braves teammate Montana Wheeler during their Missouri Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinal game March 6 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

Bradley’s men’s basketball team has accepted a bid to play in the NIT for the fourth consecutive season.

The Braves, 21-12, 13-7 in the MVC, will host the Dayton Flyers at 9 p.m. Wednesday in an opening round game that will be televised on ESPNU.

Bradley will host despite being unseeded against a Dayton team that drew the two-seed of the Winston-Salem Region in the 32-team field.

The Braves fell to eventual Missouri Valley Conference Tournament champion Northern Iowa in the semifinals March 7 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

Northern Iowa secured the Valley’s only NCAA Tournament bid, as expected.

Bradley joins Illinois State, Illinois-Chicago and Murray State among the MVC teams in the NIT.

Bradley’s women’s basketball team, 20-12, will play in the 48-team WNIT. First-round matchups, dates and times will be announced Monday night.
