A 35-year-old man is dead following a stabbing Thursday night in Peoria’s West Bluff neighborhood.

Peoria Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of North Underhill Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. and found the victim lying on the floor.

Despite attempts at life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Peoria County Coroner’s Office has identified him as Zachary White.

In a social media post Friday afternoon, the coroner's office said White suffered a single stab wound that caused fatal internal injuries and likely died instantly.

According to police records, the death is Peoria’s first homicide of 2026. The department’s year-end report for 2025 showed 12 homicides last year after 22 in the previous year.

No suspect information is available at this time and an investigation of the incident remains active.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Peoria Police at 309-673-4521, or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers or the Tip411 app.
