Michael Curry is the latest in a slew of hires for the district. Jerry Bell was recently selected as the new superintendent and Renee Andrews fills the new role of deputy superintendent.

Peoria Public Schools has hired its third new top-level administrator in less than a month.

Michael Curry has been selected as the district’s new chief financial officer, with the Board of Education approving his employment contract Monday.

Curry’s hiring follows the Jan. 26 selections of Jerry Bell as the new superintendent and Renee Andrews filling the new role of deputy superintendent. Bell will replace Sharon Kherat, who previously announced she would retire at the end of this academic year.

Curry has a background with nearly two decades in K-12 education, including past roles ranging from teacher, coach and principal to superintendent in two different districts.

He most recently served as the chief school business officer with the Decatur Public School District, where he oversaw budgets exceeding $120 million.

Curry’s three-year contract has an annual base salary of $210,000.
