Illinois Central College has renamed its welding lab following a $250,000 donation from a Peoria-based manufacturer.

The gift to the ICC Educational Foundation comes from Philippi-Hagenbuch Inc., which makes customized mining equipment and off-highway haul trucks. A ceremony Tuesday unveiled the renamed Philippi-Hagenbuch Welding Lab in recognition of the donation.

“We believe deeply in ICC’s mission and the impact it has on our region,” said company president Danette Swank. “We’re proud to support the entire college, helping students gain the resources and skills needed to build what matters.”

ICC touted the donation as a reflection of Philippi-Hagenbuch’s commitment to prepare a skilled regional workforce.

“Philippi-Hagenbuch’s generosity shows powerful confidence in ICC’s future,” said ICC Vice President of Advancement Mike Unes. “This strategic investment provides flexible resources to meet students where they are, strengthening ICC as a workforce engine.”

ICC says the major gift expands the Educational Foundation’s flexible funding, allowing the college to respond to emerging needs in supporting high-priority academic and workforce initiatives.
