A 19-year-old man has been taken into custody following an early morning shooting on the Bradley University campus that left one person hospitalized.

Neither the alleged shooter nor the victim are Bradley students, but were guests of a university student.

“There is no ongoing threat to campus, and the university remains secure,” according to a statement from the university.

Bradley University Police said they and Peoria Police were called to Geisert Hall, a residence hall in the 900 block of North Duryea Place on the Bradley campus around 2:14 a.m. for a reported shooting.

Police said the victim, an 18-year-old woman, was shot in the abdomen and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.

Police said they took three people in for questioning after securing the building and ensuring all students were safe.

On Sunday morning, Bradley University Police announced the arrest of Edward Traywick Jr., 19, of Lansing, Ill., on multiple charges: unlawful use of a weapon, no FOID card, possession of a firearm under 21 and reckless discharge. He was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
