UPDATE: Coroner IDs teen killed in Peoria shooting; investigation continues

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified a 15-year-old boy who was killed Wednesday morning in a West Bluff shooting.

In a social media post Thursday morning, Harwood said Keyaun Schmitt-Hardimon suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died instantly. Peoria police continue to investigate the death as a homicide.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 2400 block of North Sheridan Road shortly after 7:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, they located Schmitt-Hardimon with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene about an hour later.

Police say there is no suspect information. Harwood said no other details will be released at this time.
