A Pekin woman accused of trying to have her husband killed has pleaded guilty to felony solicitation of murder.

Tazewell County court records show Allison Salinas, 48, entered a guilty plea Friday during an appearance before Judge Chris Doscotch. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Pekin police arrested Salinas on July 22, two weeks after initiating an investigation in reference to a video posted on social media that implicated Salinas in an attempt to get someone to kill her husband, Patrick Salinas.

According to court documents filed by prosecutors, a detective interviewed Allison Salinas’ former out-of-state boyfriend, who had previously contacted the department about her desire to have her husband murdered. The boyfriend said the plot had been a frequent topic of conversation dating back to late 2023.

Allison Salinas admitted discussing the murder plot in multiple phone, text, and social media conversations. No attempt on Patrick Salinas’ life was ever made.

She had been free on home confinement since a July 25 pretrial hearing. At that hearing last week, Patrick Salinas told Doscotch he felt safe if his wife was released.

Doscotch granted Allison Salinas her release, but ruled she could not stay with her husband.

An arraignment hearing that had been set for Thursday morning was vacated following the guilty plea. A compliance review hearing with the Illinois Department of Corrections is scheduled for Sept. 2.

Salinas attempted to run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Tammy Duckworth in 2022, but never appeared on a ballot.
