A Pekin woman has been arrested for allegedly attempting to have someone killed.

According to a news release from the Pekin Police Department, a weeks-long investigation into a solicitation of murder plot resulted in the arrest of Allison L. Salinas on Tuesday afternoon.

The memo from police chief Seth Ranney says the department initiated the investigation July 8, based on information provided to police. The department worked with several other law enforcement agencies, including the FBI’s office in Springfield.

The news release said the case has been turned over to the Tazewell County State’s Attorney’s Office for prosecution, and no other information would be released at this time. An intended victim was not identified.

Online records show Salinas is the former owner of the now closed Busy Beez Bakery. She attempted to launch a campaign for U.S. Senate in 2022, but was not successful in getting on the ballot.
