A former neurosurgery resident at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria faces six years in prison after pleading guilty to illegally recording video of female employees using the bathroom.
Henry Chang, 30, admitted his guilt during a court hearing Wednesday, pleading guilty to two felony counts of unlawful video recording. He had been charged with 56 counts.
According to a media release, the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office agreed to drop all remaining charges because they would not have resulted in a longer sentence. The office said it will seek the maximum six-year sentence.
Prosecutors say Chang installed a camera in an employee bathroom and recorded multiple women using the facility. Police were called to the hospital in August 2023 when an employee found the camera after it fell from its hiding place.
Officers recovered several videos showing different women using the bathroom, as well as footage of Chang setting up the camera.
Chang’s sentencing is scheduled for May 28.
