Yellow police tape stretches across a blurry crime scene. It says "Police Line Do Not Cross." The text "WCBU Police and Fire" lays on top of that photo.

The identity of the Caterpillar subcontractor who suffocated in a workplace accident at the company’s Peoria Proving Ground facility near Washington has been released.

Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley reports Justin Perry, 36, of Kingsford, Mich., was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.

In a news release, Hanley said preliminary autopsy findings indicate Perry died from “compressional asphyxia” after getting trapped beneath an electrical control box.

Hanley said an investigation into the accident remains in progress by the coroner’s office, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
