Quest Charter Academy high school renamed for former Caterpillar CEO Glen Barton

The former Quest Charter Academy schools have new names.

The former high school is now named after late Caterpillar CEO and charter school advocate Glen Barton. The old middle school was dubbed the Multicultural Dual Language Academy.

Board member Lynne Costic noted these school renamings didn't go through the same extensive process that several other Peoria schools have in recent years.

Board president Paris McConnell says this is different.

"It's a little exceptional because we didn't have time. Us renaming those other buildings were on a continuum because it didn't have to happen. That's a totally different process," McConnel said.

Quest Charter Academy was closed earlier this year after falling short of the requirements outlined in state charter laws. Both schools are reopening under Peoria Public Schools management in the 2025-2026 school year.

Peoria parents will need a new app to track student bus trips

Peoria Public Schools is getting new bus routing software, and with it, a new app for parents to track their child's ride.

The district is switching to the BusQuest app on January 7. District transportation director Josh Collins said the new app should deliver better and more relevant information for caregivers.

The unique thing with this app is it allows parents to customize that notification," Collins said. "So you will be drawing, as a parent, you will draw essentially a geofence around your location. You can either do a circle or you can do it by free-hand."

Collins said support for the current MyStop app ends on February 10. Parents will log into the new bus app with their Skyward info.
