The Peoria County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a reported attempted kidnapping in Bellevue.

Sheriff Chris Watkins says several witnesses reported a silver sedan with tinted windows approached a six-year-old girl in the 5000 block of Katherine Avenue around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The girl told deputies that the driver told her he had candy in his trunk and asked her to get in the car. The vehicle drove away after a witness walked outside.

The vehicle also had a dented passenger door, rust on the bottom, and loud exhaust. The driver reportedly wore a black hat and hoop earrings.

Anyone with video or other information is asked to call Det. Bohm at the sheriff's office at 309-213-7906.
