The Peoria County Coroner's Office says a motorcyclist died after a collision with a deer Saturday night.

Just before 9 p.m., officials were called to the intersection of North Benedict Street and East Hart Lane for a man found next to his motorcycle. Witnesses told officials he struck a deer.

The man was identified as 37-year-old Nathan Knop of Chillicothe. He was transported to OSF Health Care Saint Francis Medical Center, but was ultimately pronounced dead Monday night.

Coroner Jamie Harwood said Knop suffered multiple blunt force trauma head injuries, adding that, in line with Illinois state statutes, a toxicology test is pending.
