Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The three Tri-County public health departments are ending their daily COVID-19 updates as statewide mitigations ease and local metrics improve.

The Peoria City/County Health Department on Monday reported 257 active cases, including eight hospitalized residents. That marks the lowest caseload total since Nov. 5 (242), and the fewest hospitalizations since Aug. 5 (seven).

Woodford County’s caseload as of Monday stood at 105 with three patients hospitalized; active cases data for Tazewell County was not reported. The region’s total case count reached 92,200 on Monday with 113 new infections logged since Friday.

Peoria County added two deaths linked to COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing the Tri-County's COVID-19 death toll to 1,120 since the start of the pandemic. The month of February ended with 32 fatalities in the Tri-County, 100 fewer than the previous month.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 57.7% of the Tri-County population is fully vaccinated for COVID-19, and 61.4% of residents have received at least one dose.
