A 22-year old motorcyclist died following a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Peoria Heights.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Ian Nemeth Jr. of Loda was driving a motorcycle that crashed head-on with a car at the intersection of North Galena Road (Illinois Route 29) and East Riverview Lane around 3:05 a.m.

Nemeth was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria where he was pronounced dead at 3:42 a.m. due to severe, multiple blunt force trauma injuries, said Harwood.

Harwood said Nemeth was the sole occupant on the motorcycle; it’s not known if Nemeth was hearing a helmet.

Authorities have not provided information about the driver of the car. Harwood said Peoria Heights Police, the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, AMT and Peoria Heights Fire Department responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
