Active COVID-19 cases in the Tri-County increased by more than 100 in the past week, after more than doubling over the previous seven days.

Updated figures posted Monday by the region’s three public health departments show Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties with 407 residents isolating at home, and 15 people hospitalized with COVID-19. That’s a caseload increase of 22 since Friday, and 109 over the past seven days.

The previous week saw active cases jump from 148 to 313; the current total of 422 is the area’s most since 508 on May 21.

Tazewell County reported one fatality since Friday, bringing the area's death toll since the start of the pandemic to 771. The region’s total case count since last March stands at 46,490 with 351 cases added since last Monday, including 138 over the weekend.

Meanwhile, data updated Monday by the Illinois Department of Public Health show the Tri-County with 161,210 individuals now fully vaccinated for COVID-19, or nearly 45.9% of the population.
