Madison Theatre

A nearly $7.3 million redevelopment project along the 500 block of Main Street in Downtown Peoria calls for three street-level eateries and a boutique hotel on the second floor.

Developers plan to revitalize a prominent downtown Peoria block by expanding one restaurant and bar, and adding two more.

The 1,600-seat theater designed by Peoria architect Frederick J. Klein opened in 1920, and closed most recently in 2003. It's the last of Peoria's fully-intact vintage theaters, but it's seen better days.
