East Peoria Mayor John Kahl announced he will run for a third four-year term in a social media post, saying that holding the office “has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

East Peoria is going to keep most of its recently purchased property on the north side as an operating farm for at least the next year.

The ordinance would increase the East Peoria mayor’s base pay to slightly more than $128,700. With no city administrator, the mayor handles all of East Peoria’s executive duties.
