Tazewell County's budget process received a shot in the arm Wednesday.

Brett Grimm is only a few weeks into his new role as chairman of the Tazewell County Board, adapting to the requirements of the position. The former county auditor is eager to guide Tazewell County in the years ahead, but he's also not planning to rush into making major changes.

The Tazewell County board's executive committee held discussions Wednesday on the possibility of placing a referendum to eliminate the auditor’s office on the November ballot.

Tazewell County Auditor Brett Grimm is now the only candidate for the position of Tazewell County Board chairman.

It appears Tazewell County has a new auditor. Tazewell County voters chose former board member Brett Grimm over incumbent Shelly Hranka by large margins.…
