Tazewell County Auditor Brett Grimm is now the only candidate for the position of Tazewell County Board chairman.
According to the Tazewell County clerk, District 2 board representative Roy Paget submitted paperwork to withdraw his candidacy for board chairman on Wednesday.
Incumbent David Zimmerman announced his intention to retire in November 2024 earlier this year. Both Paget and Grimm are Republicans, so their race would have been essentially decided in the March primary.
Vivian Hagaman also submitted paperwork to withdraw her candidacy for a District 2 seat on Wednesday. That leaves four candidates running for the three available seats in District 2.
