ISP and State Mourns Death of Troopers

Funeral services are planned for one Illinois State Police Trooper, as many are still trying to comprehend the death of another early Saturday morning.

Trooper Gerald Ellis was killed while on-duty when a wrong-way vehicle struck his squad car head-on, on Interstate 94 in northern Illinois. He was driving home when he was hit at about 3:25 a.m. in Green Oaks. Trooper Ellis, was 36-year-old and an 11-year veteran with ISP District 15 in Downers Grove.

Meantime the visitation for Troop Brooke Jones-Story is Tuesday at Warren High School in Warren. Funeral services for the 34-year-old officer are be Wednesday afternoon, also at the high school, followed by a private burial. She was fatally struck Thursday by a truck as she was inspecting a commercial motor vehicle in Freeport.

Ellis and Jones-Story are the second and third ISP Troopers kill on Illinois roads in the first quarter of the year. All three were struck by other vehicles. Trooper Christopher Lambert died in January near Northbrook.
