Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's work has been recognized by the National Association of Attorneys General.
The Democrat received the Kelley-Wyman Award for doing the most to meet the association's goals of leading litigation for a state, reforming laws when necessary and leading legal and public advocacy initiatives.
Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen presented the award recently in Portland, Oregon. He noted Madigan's work on mortgage lending and servicing, sexual assault victims' rights and privacy issues.
The 51-year-old Madigan has been attorney general since 2003. She isn't seeking re-election.
The association also recognized Madigan's office with the Best Brief Award for the brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in Janus v. AFSCME. Officials expect the court to rule soon on the matter of "fair share" union fees.
