Rauner Considers Moving Residents Out of Quincy Veterans' Home

QuincyIVH.org

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says he’s considering moving some residents out of a state-run veterans’ home troubled by Legionnaires’ disease.

That’s after the state announced in the past week four more residents have tested positive.

Rauner says he hasn’t moved residents out so far because it’s risky.

"Here’s the issue: Our veterans are very vulnerable. They’re very susceptible to injury, to illness. They’re very fragile."

Rauner says he’ll be making an announcement about what he plans to do in the near future.

Meantime Rauner’s Republican primary opponent - State Representative Jeanne Ives - says residents are getting sick and dying and they should be moved out now.

There have been three Legionnaires’ outbreaks at the home since 2015 - and 13 residents have died from it.
