Jurors deliberate in former prosecutor's murder trial

Jury deliberations are underway in the first-degree murder trial of a former Quincy prosecutor and University of Illinois football captain accused of killing his wife on Valentine's Day in 2006.

Ex-Adams County assistant state's attorney and all-Big Ten football player Curtis Lovelace has pleaded not guilty in Cory Lovelace's death.

A jury of 10 women and two men began deliberations on the ninth day of trial.  Curtis Lovelace did not testify in his own defense. Prosecutors allege that he suffocated his first wife with a pillow.

Cory Lovelace's cause of death was initially ruled inconclusive until a Quincy detective took a fresh look at the case. That led to Lovelace's 2014 arrest.
