State officials activated contingency plans Tuesday following confirmation of a single case of Legionnaires’ disease at the Manteno Veterans’ Home in Kankakee County.
A resident of the home who tested positive for the disease is being treated at a hospital.
State Veterans’ Affairs officials say residents and their families or Power of Attorneys have been notified.
And preparations are underway to begin flushing and heat-treating the home’s water supply.
An outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease at the state veterans’ home in Quincy killed 12 people and sickened dozens of other residents in 2015.
