Chicago Alderman Working to kick Rep. Rush off Ballot

Long-time congressman Bobby Rush is running for reelection. But Chicago Alderman Howard B. Brookins Jr. says the 1st district needs someone who is more in touch. So he’s going to run, and he’s trying to kick Rush off the ballot.

BROOKINS: We’re cautiously optimistic that we’ll be successful but we’re not gloating or being gleeful about what has happen.

Candidates running for the 1st district need at least 1,314 signatures - and Brookins thinks he’ll be able to knock Rush down to less than 750.

A lawyer for Congressman Rush says his signatures will be fine and Brookins is quote “trying to get cheap, free press.”
