Son of Congressman Considers Possible Run For State Representative

The son of longtime Congressman Bobby Rush is considering getting into the family business.  The Chicago Democrat’s son is taking on one of the most established Democrats in Springfield.

Flynn Rush hasn’t run for office, but he recently filed paperwork against the number 2 Democrat in the Illinois House.

State Representative Barbara Flynn Currie has represented Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood since 1979.  She’s the person House Speaker Michael Madigan often relies on for important legislation.

Flynn Rush didn’t return any calls.  But his uncle Marlon Rush did.  Marlon says his nephew is still THINKING about challenging Currie.  He says Flynn thinks that all people of the district have not been represented.

Currie says it’s a free country if Flynn wants to run, and she and Congressman Bobby Rush have “got along reasonably well, I would’ve thought.”
