Congressman Bobby Rush running for re-election, not resigning

Bobby Rush is running for re-election, and he says he won’t be resigning any time soon.  Democrat Bobby Rush has represented Chicago’s South Side in Congress since 1993.

He’s battled cancer in the past and his wife had been ill, which led to lots of speculation that Rush would not run.  Today Rush said he’ll serve “every single solitary millisecond” of his term should he win again.  And he wouldn’t resign, just to have an influence over who his successor might be.

"I would never be involved in a political gamesmanship, brinksmanship, of that kind. It’s beneath me."

Chicago Alderman Howard Brookins says he’s challenging Rush in the primary.
