Bradley's COVID-19 Positivity Rate Nearly Halved As Students Come Out Of Quarantine

Bradley University's COVID-19 positivity rate fell nearly by half as it comes out of a two-week, all-student quarantine.
The one-week positivity rate is 8.9 percent as of Friday, significantly less than the 16.4 percent rate reported a week ago.

Forty-four people tested positive for the virus in the past week, and an additional 127 are quarantining.

Bradley students are back to in-person classes as of Wednesday, but many quarantine restrictions remain, such as limitations on dining or drinking out; restrictions on hosting guests in student residences; and face covering and social distancing mandates.

That's led to some backlash among the student body. More than 800 people have signed an online petition started by Bradley student Lexie Rothschild asking the university to ease up on the measures and allow more socializing.

University President Steve Standifird said it is still permissible for students to go outside with a friend or two, or grab food to go to eat outside on the quad with a couple others. He said the university also is  working on "appropriately-spaced" opportunities for social interactions.

Standifird said another spike in cases will lead to another two-week quarantine, and a return to all-remote learning for the rest of the semester.
