Texas Man Fatally Stabbed In Galesburg Hotel Parking Lot

A Texas man is dead after a stabbing early Wednesday morning at a Galesburg hotel parking lot. 

Galesburg police said the man was stabbed overnight at the Baymont by Wyndham Galesburg, 2285 Washington St.

Gregory Acosta, 28, of Lindale, Texas, was transported to Galesburg Cottage Hospital, and later was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where he was pronounced dead.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Acosta died after suffering severe hemmoraging due to a stabbing injury to the chest just before 5 a.m.

A second man, 33-year-old Aaron Kropf of Perry, Mo., was treated and released from OSF St. Mary in Galesburg after suffering a stab wound to his leg.

On Wednesday, another man, Julio Flores, 25, of McAllen, Texas, was arrested by the Galesburg Police Department on two counts of aggravated battery and one count of homicide . He's being held in the Knox County Jail.

The Galesburg Police Department is continuing its investigation.
