A Peoria man is dead after a shooting early Sunday morning in the city's South Side.
Peoria police officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1500 block of S. Westmoreland around 3 a.m. A group of around 200 people were gathered around a house in the neighborhood. Multiple agencies responded to break up the crowd.
Two people were found with gunshot wounds on the scene. Percy King, 33, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition. He died at 3:35 a.m.
A second man was found lying in the front yard of a house across the street from King. He was taken to the hospital with what are considered life-threatening injuries.
Multiple vehicles were also struck by gunfire.
