Knox County Infant Contracts COVID-19

The Knox County Health Department is reporting a positive COVID-19 case in a baby girl.

She was one of five people to test positive Thursday for the virus. Her condition isn't known.

Two men in their 40s, a woman in her 30s, and a woman in her 50s also tested positive. To date, Knox County has reported 47 positive COVID-19 cases, and more than 400 negative tests. There are no deaths reported.

"COVID-19 is spreading in the community and the number of cases is expected to continue to grow over the next few weeks," said Michele Gabriel, Knox County Health Department administrator.

Public health officials are performing contact tracing for the five people who tested positive for the virus.
