Local developer Kim Blickenstaff is buying the 34-acre Spring Bay Marina in Woodford County.

It's near the 220-acre Sankoty Lakes Resort and Retreat that he is developing into a camping and fishing destination.

Blickenstaff plans to invest at least $1 million to dredge and clean-up the marina.

Blickenstaff also has plans to rebuild the Village Inn, the Spring Bay eatery noted for its tenderloins that burned down in 2014. He plans to construct pole cabins at the nearby Siesta Channel along the river.

The developer grew up in the small village along the Illinois River. He later moved to California, where he made his fortune in the medical industry. He's also taking on a number of other projects in the Peoria area, including the Scottish Rite Cathedral restoration and the development of a boutique hotel in Peoria Heights.
