A woman and a dog are dead after a fire in a rural structure fire in Spring Bay.

Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman on Tuesday identified the woman as Shelby Luncsford, 34. He said she died from carbon monoxide intoxication.

According to Ruestman, the Spring Bay Fire Department responded to the fire in the 1200 block of Upper Spring Bay Road around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters found the structure fully engulfed, with two male occupants outside, with Luncsford and the dog still in the building.

Ruestman says both Luncsford and the dog were found deceased in the home. He pronounced the woman dead at the scene shortly before 1 p.m.

Both men were sent to a local hospital for treatment and later transferred to a Springfield hospital.

A release from the Spring Bay Fire Protection District says one firefighter was injured while working on the second level of the building and transported to a local hospital.

No further update on the conditions of the three people injured in the fire.

The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by the Woodford County Sheriff's Department and the Illinois Fire Marshall.
