Sunnyland Man Arrested For Missing Morton Man's Murder

Tazewell County Jail
Daniel Allbritton

Tazewell County deputies have arrested a 52-year-old Sunnyland man for the murder of a missing Morton man.

Authorities said Daniel Allbritton killed John Tyler, Jr. He was reported missing on December 6. Allbritton reportedly gave Tyler a ride from the Par-a-dice Casino to Allbritton's house, then to the nearby Kirk's Corner Tap in Sunnyland.

In the bar parking lot, the two got into an argument. Allbritton reportedly slammed Tyler's head into the back of his vehicle's door. He claimed Tyler laughed it off and they proceeded to the Office Tap in Morton.

But police said Tyler's blood was found in Allbritton's garage, shed, and vehicle. Allbritton was initially arrested for obstructing justice. Those charges were elevated when the Illinois State Police Crime Lab confirmed the blood was Tyler's.

Police didn't say if Tyler's body was located.
