The Alexis Scott Campaign came out in force to the Peoria City Council meeting Tuesday to mark her two year disappearance.
Scott was last seen September 23, 2017 at a house party at 125 W. Richmond. Police haven't arrested any suspects.
Her disappearance has become a cause, with supporters regularly organizing searches, posting on social media, and regularly attending council meetings to lobby for more to be done to solve Scott's missing person case.
April Allen is Scott's mother. She said she's weighing a civil lawsuit to compel the Peoria Police Department to hand off leadership of the investigation to the FBI.
"Legal representation, I think, is the way I need to go. I don't want to do this. This is not something I want," Allend said. "But if this is the only way I can get what I need for my grandson, this is what I'm going to have to do."
Allen said she's raising her daughter's 4-year-old son with no health insurance, and she said she's unable to enroll him in preschool.
"I need closure. I can't take this anymore. My daughter was 20. Everyone else is out here, allowed to make mistakes with life. My daughter has not been given that opportunity. And I want justice," she said.
