Dangerous Heat Predicted Through Weekend

Creative Commons/saturnism

Forecasters warn dangerously hot temperatures and oppressive humidity will persist through the weekend. An excessive heat warning is in effect through Saturday evening.

The National Weather Service in Lincoln says conditions could make it feel as hot as 115 degrees.

Officials warn heat illnesses are likely. Stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned spaces and schedule strenuous activity for early morning or late evening.

A list of cooling centers across the state is available at the Keep Cool Illinois website. Beat the heat with these tips from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
