Authorities have identified the teen who died in an early morning Peoria shooting. The victim is 18-year-old Louis Salazar.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Salazar was pronounced dead just after 3:00 a.m. by Peoria Fire Department EMS. Family members identified him at the scene.

Salazar was found on a sidewalk in the 300 block of Hancock in the Taft Homes area. During the investigation, police were alerted to a possible second victim. The unidentified 23-year-old was located in a home in the 700 block of Armstrong. He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Salazar’s autopsy is pending. The incident remains under investigation by the Peoria Police Department and the Peoria County Coroner’s office.

Salazar’s death is the city’s ninth homicide of the year.
