Man sentenced to 60 years in prison for 2019 murder of Peoria woman

A gavel rests on a judge's bench in a blurry courtroom. The text "WCBU Courts" sits on top of that photo.

Forty-six-year-old Dmitri G. Rogatchev was sentenced Monday to 60 years in prison for the 2019 death of 75-year-old Sandra Jackson.

Rogatchev was Jackson's live-in caretaker in December 2019, when prosecutors say they got into a fight after Rogatchev became frustrated by the volume on Jackson's TV.

Rogatchev hit and kicked Jackson, causing a fatal brain injury, officials said.

Rogatchev must serve 100% of the sentence.
