Tazewell County Focus of Special ISP Patrols

Illinois State Police

Illinois State Police, District 08 is conducting Roadside Safety Check and Saturation Patrols in Tazewell County during the month of April.

District 08 Commander Gregg Cavanaugh says ISP has zero tolerance for impaired driving in Illinois. Officers working the detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or driving under the influence.

The other special patrols will focus on traffic violations related to compliance with safety belt and child safety seat laws.

The motivation for the Roadside Safety Checks may be driven by the fact that alcohol and drug impairment is a significant factor in over 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.

The project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
