Weekend Crash Kills Two Peoria Men

Creative Commons

Peoria police continue to investigate a weekend car accident that killed two and injured one.

29-year-old Cordero Henderson and 25-year-old Jeremy Burnside - both of Peoria - died following the Sunday morning accident.

Authorities were called to the scene on Sheridan Road near Eleanor just before 4:15 a.m. Police believe Henderson was driving northbound on Sheridan when the car struck a utility pole.

The coroner’s office says Henderson was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. Jeremy Burnside was unrestrained. He was extricated before being taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where he died of multiple blunt force injuries.

A third, unnamed person was ejected from the vehicle and transported to OSF with life-threatening injuries.

Peoria police believe speed played a role in the crash.
