CHICAGO - A mixed bag of precipitation is expected across central and northern Illinois tonight.
Peoria and Woodford counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday and continuing to 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service says freezing rain could result in up to one-tenth of an inch of ice accumulation.
Tazewell County is not included in the advisory area.
Meanwhile, forecasters have issued an ice storm warning for this afternoon through Wednesday morning for the Chicago area and a portion of northern Illinois extending southwest to the Quad Cities. Fulton and Knox counties are included in the warning area.
The expected ice could cause tree damage and power outages. Travel will be difficult in the advisory areas. The National Weather Service is ‘strongly discouraging’ travel in counties under the ice storm warning.
