The Illinois State Police has issued a winter weather travel advisory for this weekend. State Police along with the Department Transportation are urging motorists that travel may be impacted by freezing rain and sleet today through Sunday.
The National Weather Service, Winter Storm Watch includes rain and
freezing rain through Sunday afternoon. Ice accumulation is possible on the roads and slick spots are likely, especially on untreated surfaces, overpasses, bridges, and ramps.
The Illinois State Police is urging motorists to drive with extra caution, increase following distances, and allow extra travel time to get to their destination. ISP is also reminding motorist to observe the Move Over Law.
