Autopsies Complete on Peoria Men Killed Tuesday Morning

Creative Commons

Autopsies are complete on the two Peoria men killed in a Tuesday morning shooting.

22-year-old Braden M. Huerta and 23-year-old Alijah W. Sumrell were found in the 200 block of East Virginia just before 12:45 a.m.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Sumrell lived on Rockwell Drive, and Huerta lived on Fairlane Drive. Huerta suffered a single gunshot to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sumrell was shot multiple times and found on the ground next to a vehicle. He was pronounced dead a short time later at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. But, the coroner’s office says both men likely died immediately.

Neither man was carrying identification. Family members were notified in person after authorities identified the men by body tattoos and fingerprints.
