The man who was killed in the apparent hit and run accident early yesterday is identified as 39-year-old John Lackey.
Lackey was found lying on the pavement on Farmington Road near Swords Avenue about 2:30 Sunday morning.
He was gravely injured, and was transported to the trauma center where he died about 40 minutes later. It’s unclear why he was walking at that time but his address is 2900 West Farmington Road.
The Peoria County Sheriff has said the car that hit Lackey would show front-end damage. Police continue their search for the car and driver responsible.
The autopsy and toxicology testing for Lackey are scheduled for Monday morning.
