Streets in portions of downtown Peoria will close Saturday afternoon as the St. Jude Runners return from Memphis.

The first wave of runners is expected to arrive at a Civic Center staging area around 3:00 p.m. Runners will continue to arrive until 6:00 p.m. They will then parade inside the Civic Center for the start of the annual St. Jude Telethon.

The Peoria Police Department says William Kumpf Boulevard will close by 3:00 p.m. and vehicular traffic will be diverted south to Jefferson Street. Monroe Street between Fulton Street and William Kumpf Boulevard will also close.

Portions of Main and Jefferson streets will be closed throughout the afternoon and early evening.

Police officials say motorists can expect delays and more pedestrian traffic Saturday afternoon and evening. All roads are expected to reopen around 7:00 p.m.
