Peoria Public High Schools were on lockdown this afternoon after reports of a gun at the career center. Students from the other three high schools come and go from Woodruff Career and Technical Center.
Superintendent Sharon Kherat says that precipitated the need to lockdown all the schools out of an abundance of caution. Kherat says at dismissal time they were conducting locker searches. She says she is confident in the district’s protocols to maintain a safe learning environment, and that the situation will be secure for back to school Monday.
Peoria Police also placed an invisible perimeter around each of the high schools when students left for the day.
