A US District judge has ordered the former owner of four Peoria-area gas stations to pay $1.5 million and serve 21 months in prison.

Adnan Rashid, 35, used to be the sole owner of two Marathon gas stations and a 50 percent owner of two additional Marathon stations.

Rashid, who lives in New Jersey, was charged last year with failing to report millions of dollars in sales over several years.

On Mon., Chief U.S. District Judge James E. Shadid sentenced Rashid and ordered that he pay $1.28 million in back taxes to the State of Illinois and about $207,000 to the IRS.

The US Attorney’s office says information at the sentencing hearing showed he had over $41 million unreported gross income for the gas stations and $1 million in unreported personal income.
